“It’s been a long time since the last update” is how I usually start my blog entries.
There’s been quite a bit of changes for the past few months. The previous entry of reworking on the blog was left aside. Now here’s the real deal.
I’ve been working with Austin (a buddy of mine) and started a new local automotive blog. Instead of working with another group of friends, we decided that it would be best to run the blog ourselves because our goals and views for the blog are rather different.
http://otcmaterial.com
When we started OTC, things wasn’t quite what we expected. Our group of 4 people went down to 2, and neither of us had enough experience with blogging. So at first to me it seemed like I would just start off OTC, set up the basics and let Austin do the rest. OTC to me is not trying to become competitive with other local automotive bloggers. It’s not looking to become the most popular local blog. I want the blog to promote what the northwest automotive culture is like. It’s to get to know local enthusiasts alike. It’s to promote motorsports. It’s my way to help keep the sport alive.
Anyway, so after a few weeks OTC was running and I started working on my own stuff. When I am talking about my “own stuff”, I’m talking about my wedding photography. Previously I had shot quite a few weddings but had my priorities into automotive photography. It wasn’t until last year that I’ve decided to put more effort into shooting weddings. For many reasons I used to convince myself not to shoot weddings. It’s something that I always wanted to do but I guess it’s because everyone is doing it so my mind automatically tells me NOT jump on the bandwagon.
Long story short. I will be shooting less cars now. Any of the car related stuff would go on OTC instead. As for the wedding site, I’m currently working on it but I’m still missing a name. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! The website will be posted when it’s ready.
So what am I going to do with this blog? You ask. I think this might become my very own personal blog. You will hear more of my voice. May be more photography and personal related things.
This is most likely my longest post yet, and definitely won’t be the last one!

It’s been quite a while since my last update. There’s a bit of changes for me lately and mostly it’s been my photography career. I’ve been shooting more engagement and weddings but I haven’t forgot about cars. It’s just a tad harder to make a living shooting cars in Vancouver. Over the last year, there’s a lot of planning involved regarding my career in Toronto and in the US. I am trying to find a balance to shoot full time but due to many other issues, leaving Vancouver is not exactly an option anymore. Weddings are one of my favorite things to shoot so I’m not missing out too much. Just different priorities :)
A picture of my “new” car. The place where I live in currently doesn’t allow me to work on my car anymore. It’s been a challenge trying to find the right place to work on it.
I’m going to be in Hong Kong till December 10th. Any questions or bookings for photoshoot can be requested via email matt-kwok@matt-kwok.com. I will not be replying any sms or text until I’m back.
I’m going to be at the WTCC races in Macau on the 20th! Let me know if any of you are heading there as well!
Happy chinese new year everyone! Haven’t update my blog for a while. I’ve been working 1 day less each week and I still managed to fill up all my time with shoot scouting and planning. To makes things worse, I’ve been quite sick, feeling better and then got sick again. I counted that I’ve been sick for more than 5 times in the past 2 months. Been through headache, stomachache, diarrhea, sneezing, and what not. Keep checking the blog though because I have 4 photoshoots planned for the next 2 weeks. I’m pretty excited and will update when I get the time.
Excuse my grammar. My English isn’t very polished and I’m typing this at 3 in the morning on my phone.
Earlier this summer, I had the privilege to shoot MWdesign’s BMW Z4 once again. This time however, is featured on Performance BMW magazine in europe. I was quite excited for the shoot since this would be my first ever feature on a magazine. 3 and a half full pages and I felt pretty lucky to be shooting for them. Pick up your copy today at your local magazine stand! Ipod/Ipad version here.Performance BMW magazine, December 2010.
Special thanks for Lewis and Mike again from MWdesign, and Performance BMW Magazine editors and staff!
A little big of an update from me. I’ve been busy shooting as usual but recently I also joined one of my local photography contest.
These are my 3 submission shots. I was pretty confident that these are winning shots but unfortunately the voting method is by facebook “Likes”. My unpopularity on facebook is a big disadvantage. My only support is from you guys.
Here’s how you can vote for me:
1. “Like” the following link here
2. “Like” any of these photos you like by clicking on the photos below and press “Like” on Facebook
3. Comment on “next jessel girl” for your favorite model and “hot ride” for the hottest ride!
4. Share to others with the buttons below!
By all means if you think you should vote for the others too if you think they’re great!
I’ll be uploaded the originals if I win the contest!
Bought a scooter since I need something to go around town when my car is on jack stands. Might have plans for engine swap and other goodies but we’ll see. Don’t need another money pit right now and since my brother is partially an owner, I won’t be driving it as much.
And a quick snap :)
PS: I’ll be out of town from Aug 15-24. You can contact me via email or sms. Call me if it’s urgent. Thanks!
Sorry guys, I don’t have the time to finish the website on time. Once I have some time, I’ll finish it up!
Update: September 13, 2009
I’m trying my best to get my website back online. I have a few people asking me already. There’s a few things I have to finish up before uploading it. Give me another 2-3 weeks and I’ll get it online asap.
It’s Sunday afternoon and I’m trying my best to work my website. Hopefully it makes the release on time.
I was planning to do some fireworks photo last night but we cancelled it due to pouring rain (and thunder + lightning which isn’t very common in Vancouver). I was trying to take some pictures and post it on my blog. Pretty unfortunate. :(
